San Francisco-based Salesforce co-founder and CEO Marc Benioff made a significant donation to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2010. Along with his wife Lynne, he gave $100 million to fund the construction of a new children's hospital at the Mission Bay campus.

The donation was one of the largest private gifts ever made to a children's hospital in the United States at that time. In recognition of their contribution, the facility was renamed UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

The new hospital featured 183 beds and an on-site helipad for transporting critically ill patients. It also included a dedicated pediatric emergency department and intensive care services designed specifically for young patients.
