Berkshire Boosts Alphabet Stake to $38 Billion
Berkshire Hathaway significantly increased its Alphabet stake in the second quarter of 2026, adding about 83 million shares to bring its holdings to nearly 106 million. This boost raised the position's value to almost $38 billion by June's end, making Alphabet Berkshire's third-largest holding behind Apple and American Express.
This move is notable given Buffett's history with tech stocks, he has expressed a preference for consumer products companies like Apple. However, he had previously stated that he invested in Alphabet last year due to its growth prospects.
The position was bolstered by a private placement agreement made in June, where Berkshire agreed to purchase $10 billion of Alphabet shares. Since then, the company's stock has gained around 150% over five years, making it an attractive investment opportunity for those following Berkshire's lead.
