Berkshire Hathaway's latest 13F filing revealed significant changes in its holdings for Q2. The company increased its position in Alphabet, adding approximately $17 billion worth of stock and bringing its total shares to 106 million. This makes Alphabet Berkshire's third-largest holding behind Apple and American Express.

Under new CEO Greg Abel, Berkshire has been more active in buying stocks, including a notable move into the tech sector with Alphabet. Although expensive on a price-to-earnings ratio of 17 times its expected future earnings, Alphabet has a strong competitive advantage and is among the most valuable companies in the world.

Berkshire also added to its position in Delta Air Lines, buying 17.5 million shares during Q2. This represents over 1% of the company's portfolio. Delta reported strong earnings back in July, citing 'broad demand strength' and expecting 'mid-teens revenue growth and double-digit margin' for the current period.

However, Berkshire did trim its position in Bank of America, selling more than 30 million shares to reduce its stake by about 6%. This move may have been to reduce exposure to financial stocks, with American Express already being the second-largest position in the company's portfolio. Despite this reduction, Bank of America remains one of Berkshire's largest holdings.
