Berkshire Hathaway Pours $17 Billion into Alphabet Stake
Berkshire Hathaway added $17 billion to its stake in Alphabet, the parent company of Google, in the second quarter. This significant investment brings Berkshire's total holdings in Alphabet to nearly 106 million shares, valued at about $36.6 billion.
The acquisition was largely made possible by a $10 billion private placement announced by Alphabet in early June, with approximately 60% of the new shares coming from this placement.
Berkshire also increased its stake in Delta Air Lines and other companies, including homebuilder Taylor Morrison Home. However, it reduced its holdings in financial sector names, a trend that has been observed in Buffett's portfolio over time.
