Berkshire Hathaway Reduces Cash Hoard as Alphabet Becomes Third-Largest Holding
Berkshire Hathaway's Q2 holdings have been revealed, showing a significant increase in its U.S. equity portfolio to $299.3 billion.
The company has been redirecting new capital towards Alphabet, aviation, and the U.S. housing-related industries, which have become the three clearest new themes.
Berkshire's top 10 holdings still account for approximately 88.5% of its portfolio, with Apple remaining the overwhelming leader at $65.95 billion (22.04% allocation).
The company has increased its Alphabet holdings by 45%, with a total combined market value of $37.8 billion, surpassing Coca-Cola and Bank of America to become the third-largest U.S. equity holding.
Berkshire also participated in a $10 billion private placement with Alphabet, purchasing $5 billion worth of GOOGL and the remaining $5 billion worth of GOOG.
