A lawsuit filed by some UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH) shareholders alleges catastrophic corporate governance breaches and massive financial losses for the health insurance giant.

The complaint, which covers the period from September 2021 to July 2025, asserts that executive misconduct artificially inflated earnings growth.

According to the suit, UnitedHealth fraudulently inflated Medicare Advantage revenue by making members appear sicker through unnecessary diagnoses, capturing $8.7 billion in federal funds alone in 2021.
