Berkshire Hathaway's UNH Exit Sparks Retail Trader Backlash

Berkshire Hathaway's decision to sell its entire stake in UnitedHealth Group (UNH) has left retail traders scratching their heads.

The conglomerate sold approximately 5.04 million shares of UNH during the first quarter, valued at $1.6 billion when Berkshire built the stake in 2025.

However, this move seems to have come too early for some investors, as UNH has since rallied roughly 45% since February 10 and surged towards the $400 level after strong earnings, improved Medicare reimbursement rates, and bullish Optum views.

Retail traders on Stocktwits largely dismissed Berkshire's exit, arguing that the firm sold between the $250-$290 range before missing UNH's sharp rebound.
