Best Buy Tops Home Depot as Best Appliance Retailer for Customer Satisfaction

JD Power's 2026 U.S. Appliance Satisfaction Study revealed that Best Buy has taken the top spot for customer satisfaction in home appliance retailers, surpassing Home Depot and Costco. The study measured customer satisfaction across various appliances and categories, finding that all three major retailers - Best Buy, Home Depot, and Costco - had scores close to each other, with 726, 718, and 714 points respectively on a 1,000-point scale.

The improvement in customer satisfaction is notable, especially considering the current economic climate. Despite a $54 price increase for an average appliance since 2025, customers reported finding it easier to shop at these retailers, with 87% of surveyed consumers saying they had no issues buying their new appliances. The study also found that customer satisfaction with specific appliance brands increased by eight points in durability and six points in products.

The rankings varied across categories, with traditional big names like Maytag and KitchenAid performing well in some areas, while more general tech conglomerates like LG and Samsung excelled in others. However, it's worth noting that different studies may yield different results - for example, an ACSI study found Whirlpool refrigerators to be the highest-rated for customer satisfaction in 2025.
