Bezos' $4.1 Billion Amazon Sale Triggers Market Sell-Off
Amazon's stock price took a hit after Jeff Bezos filed to sell $4.1 billion worth of shares. The sale was part of a prearranged trading plan that Bezos adopted in November 2025, but the timing couldn't have been worse. Amazon shares had just reached an all-time high and pushed the company's market value above $3 trillion.
The filing came one day after Amazon's stock hit its record high, with investors convinced by the company's strong quarterly results that its AI bets are finally paying off. The stock is up about 20% this year, easily outpacing the S&P 500's 12% gain.
Bezos' sale of $4.1 billion worth of shares marks his second major transaction in as many years. He sold $4.8 billion worth of Amazon shares in a similar filing last year and also donated 220,200 shares to nonprofits back in May.
