Bezos' Massive Stock Sale Weighs on Amazon's Momentum

Amazon's market value has been boosted by its strong second-quarter earnings report. The company reported net sales of $200.6 billion, up 20% year-over-year, and revenue growth in its cloud computing division continued to accelerate due to the rapid adoption of AI technologies.

AWS generated $42.2 billion in revenue, up 36.7% annually, marking its fastest growth in roughly 18 quarters. The surge reflects growing enterprise demand for AI infrastructure as businesses continue building and deploying generative AI applications.

However, the excitement around Amazon's stock has cooled somewhat after founder Jeff Bezos disclosed plans to unload 15 million shares worth approximately $4.07 billion. This sale is part of a larger trend, with Bezos planning to sell around $1 billion worth of shares annually to fund his ventures.

The timing of this sale caught investors' attention as it coincided with Amazon's strongest rally in years. Despite the recent pullback, Amazon's chart still looks steady, and its long-term story remains intact.
