Jeff Bezos' fascination with precision timekeeping has been evident throughout his career. In a 1999 interview with Bob Simon for 60 Minutes, Bezos showcased his ultra-accurate watch, which updated itself from the atomic clock 36 times a day.

This 'nerdy' aspect of Bezos' personality hasn't changed, he admitted while laughing in the interview. The Amazon founder described himself as hardworking and high-achieving, traits that were evident even as a child.

More than two decades later, Bezos has invested $42 million in the Clock of the Long Now, a mechanical timepiece designed to operate for 10,000 years. This project aims to encourage people to think beyond short-term horizons and consider the distant future.
