Bezos Unloads $4 Billion in Amazon Shares Amid Record Stock Highs
Jeff Bezos is selling approximately 15 million shares of Amazon, valued at around $4.07 billion. This move comes as the tech giant's stock has reached record highs following strong quarterly results and rising investor confidence.
The sale is part of a pre-determined plan under Rule 10b5-1, which Bezos adopted in November 2025. The transaction is being carried out through Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, with an estimated value based on the closing price of $284.02 per share.
Although this represents a significant amount, it's only a small part of Amazon's total shares in circulation, which exceed 10.7 billion. The announcement caused a short-term drop of over two percent in Amazon's shares at the beginning of trading, but analysts don't expect it to have a substantial impact on the company's long-term prospects.
Amazon's recent success is largely attributed to its AWS business, which investors see as a key driver of future growth due to significant investments in artificial intelligence. The company's market value has surpassed $3 trillion, making Amazon one of the most valuable corporations globally.
