Big Three Hyperscalers: Amazon and Alphabet Outshine Microsoft

The 'big three' hyperscalers - Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft (MSFT), and Alphabet (GOOG) (GOOGL) - are dominating the cloud computing market, with their platforms being the primary choice for AI workloads.

These companies have invested heavily in data center capital expenditures, with hundreds of billions of dollars spent this year alone. This investment will lead to significant growth for these companies, but not all three are created equal.

Alphabet's Google Cloud has the fastest growth rate, increasing 82% year-over-year in Q2, with a profit margin of 36%. In contrast, Microsoft Azure grew at a slower pace, with a 43% increase in Q2, down from 40% in Q1.

This disparity in growth rates leads one analyst to prefer Amazon and Alphabet over Microsoft. While Microsoft is the cheapest of the three, its lower valuation may be due to concerns about its cloud computing segment's ability to keep up with its peers.
