Biman Bangladesh Orders 11 More Boeing Jets Amid Expansion Plans
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has ordered 11 more Boeing aircraft as part of its expansion plans. The latest order comprises five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 jets, bringing the total Boeing orders this year to 25.
The agreement follows Biman's largest-ever aircraft order earlier this year. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir announced the deal at a press briefing in New York on Wednesday while accompanying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the UN General Assembly.
Mahdi Amin, the prime minister's adviser, stated that the purchase was driven by plans to expand Bangladesh's aviation sector and launch new routes. 'Bangladesh's aviation sector is expanding, and there are plans to launch new routes. For this reason, new aircraft are needed,' he said.
The order is expected to support Biman's international network, connecting Bangladesh with major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe.
