Biman Bangladesh Places New Order for 11 Boeing Aircraft
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 11 additional Boeing aircraft as part of its ongoing fleet renewal and expansion program. This latest purchase brings the total number of Boeing planes ordered by the airline in 2026 to 25, following a previous agreement signed earlier this year for 14 aircraft from the 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX families.
The new order consists of five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8s. According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines Chairman Rumee A. Hossain, the additional aircraft will address specific requirements within the airline's long-term fleet plan and enable it to continue developing its network in line with growing demand from Bangladeshi passengers, the expatriate community, the business sector, and tourism.
The introduction of the 787-10 Dreamliner variant is expected to provide a higher-capacity aircraft to complement Biman's existing fleet. The new 737-8s will also offer additional capacity and range across the airline's narrowbody network. Boeing claims that its 737 MAX and 787 Dreamliner families deliver approximately 20 to 25 percent better fuel efficiency compared with their predecessors, supporting Biman's efforts to reduce operating costs and modernize its fleet.
