Biman Expands Boeing Order with 11 Additional Aircraft
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to expand its order for Boeing aircraft with an additional 11 planes, bringing its total planned acquisitions to 25. The proposed deal follows a $3.7 billion agreement in April 2026 for 14 Boeing aircraft.
The new agreement will be signed on September 23, 2026, at the residence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in New York during his visit for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Bangladesh's government has emphasized that the additional purchase is driven by the country's aviation requirements rather than external pressure. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir said the country needs to expand its aircraft fleet to open new routes, improve passenger services, and strengthen Bangladesh's position as an aviation gateway in Asia.
