Biman Expands Fleet Order with Boeing, Adding 11 New Aircraft
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced an expansion of its fleet order with Boeing, adding 11 more aircraft to its backlog. The order includes five 787-10 and six 737 MAX airplanes, building on a previous order for 14 of the same models earlier this year.
The new addition brings Biman's total number of ordered aircraft to 25, which will significantly expand the airline's capacity and connectivity options. The new planes are expected to enhance the airline's efficiency, versatility, and reliability in supporting Bangladesh's growing role in global aviation.
Biman operates a current fleet of Boeing 737-800s, 777-300ERs, 787-8s, and 787-9s, as well as DeHavilland Dash8-Q400s. The influx of new aircraft is expected to open up new opportunities for the airline, allowing it to connect Bangladesh with its diaspora and passengers in regional and long-haul destinations.
According to Biman's chairman, Rumee A. Hossain, the order responds to specific requirements in the airline's fleet plan and will strengthen the country's international connectivity in the years ahead.
