Bitcoin Surges Above $80,000, Retakes Top Spot as Best-Performing Asset Over Decade
Bitcoin (BTC) has reclaimed its title as the top-performing major asset over the past decade, narrowly edging out Nvidia Corp. (NVDA). According to a table shared by Mark Harvey, a widely followed Bitcoin investor and analyst, Bitcoin's 10-year return stands at an impressive 13,491%, surpassing NVDA's 13,428% gain.
The news comes as Bitcoin surges above $80,000 for the first time in over three months, with a sharp rebound pushing its price up by over 25% in just one week. In comparison, Nvidia shares were up 1.16% in Tuesday's pre-market trading session after closing 2.91% lower on Monday.
It's worth noting that over shorter timeframes, Nvidia has outperformed Bitcoin. For example, in the past year and five years, NVDA's gains have been higher than BTC's. However, when considering risk-adjusted returns using the Sharpe Ratio, Bitcoin's ratio of 7 indicates positive returns above the risk-free rate, while NVDA's -1.20 suggests lower expected returns.
