BlackRock Takes $25 Billion Stake in Chevron Amid Rising Oil Prices
BlackRock Inc., one of the world's largest asset management companies, has taken a significant position in Chevron Corporation. According to its latest filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission, BlackRock purchased 154,824,622 shares of Chevron stock worth approximately $25.66 billion in the second quarter.
This acquisition gives BlackRock a 7.77% stake in Chevron and marks a major investment in the oil and gas company's stock. The move comes as Chevron continues to expand its operations and explore new resources, including a major discovery in Angola that is expected to boost the company's long-term production outlook.
BlackRock's investment in Chevron is part of a broader trend of institutional investors increasing their stakes in energy companies amid rising oil prices and growing demand for fossil fuels. The company's shares have risen 1.4% since the start of trading on Tuesday, with a current market cap of $400.59 billion.
Other large investors, including Midwest Capital Advisors LLC, Core Wealth Advisors LLC, Phillip James Consulting Co., Basso Capital Management L.P., and Karpus Management Inc., have also acquired new positions in Chevron's stock in recent quarters.
