Blackstone-Alphabet Joint Venture Secures $22 Billion in Debt Financing for AI Processors
A major banking consortium has provided $22 billion in debt financing for Crux AI, a joint venture between Blackstone and Alphabet, to fund the purchase of specialized AI processors.
The loan is secured directly by Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and Crux AI's customer agreements. The 10-bank consortium includes Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., Barclays Plc, BNP Paribas SA, and Bank of Nova Scotia.
The debt facility represents one of the latest high-stakes financing deals supporting the rapidly expanding infrastructure required for advanced AI applications. The $22-billion loan will fund the purchase of Google-designed TPUs, with select participating banks extending a $1-billion revolving credit line to the venture.
