Blincyto Gets Expanded Coverage for B-ALL Consolidation Therapy in Korea

Amgen's Blincyto (blinatumomab) has received expanded health insurance coverage in Korea for use as first remission consolidation therapy in patients with B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL).

The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) issued a notice on Friday stating that Blincyto will be reimbursed for this treatment from September.

According to the notice, coverage applies to patients aged 1 year or older at diagnosis with Philadelphia chromosome-negative (Ph-negative), CD19-positive B-cell precursor ALL who achieve remission after induction therapy and test negative for measurable residual disease (MRD).

Patients younger than 18 at diagnosis will be eligible for up to two cycles, while adults will be covered for up to four cycles.
