Block Enters Crowded Market with AI-Powered Tool Buzz
Block's entry into the enterprise messaging and collaboration market with its new AI-powered tool Buzz is being closely watched by investors, as Microsoft's Teams and Salesforce's Slack dominate the space.
Buzz is a free, open-source workspace that combines chat, code, AI agents, and workflows into one platform. According to Jack Dorsey, Block plans to use Buzz internally and make it the foundation of its future AI-powered development workflow.
The timing of Buzz's launch may not be ideal, as software stocks have been under pressure since the start of this year due to fears that AI will eat into demand for niche software. Nevertheless, shares of Block have increased notably since March this year and are up 19% year-to-date.
