Blue Chip Stocks on Sale: A Buying Opportunity?
Blue chip stocks have taken a hit in recent months, and investors are starting to see them as 'on sale'. One such stock is Pepsi (PEP), which has seen its price drop from over $145 to below $130 in just a few weeks. The company's high-sugar pop drinks and high-fat snacks have been hurt by the advent of obesity drugs, leading to a decline in its total addressable market.
Another blue chip stock that has fallen on hard times is McDonald's (MCD). The restaurant chain has failed to adapt to changing consumer preferences, particularly with regards to beef inflation. Its reliance on burgers has made it less competitive than rivals who have switched to selling chicken. As a result, the stock is trading at a value level.
Bank of America (BAC) shares have also slumped, reaching prices not seen since June. Investors are losing confidence in the booming US economy, and interest rates are expected to slow economic growth over the next three to six months. BAC stock is pricing in this slowdown.
