Blue Dragons Kick Off Season with High Expectations Under Coach Dallas
Hutchinson Community College's football team has begun preparations for its upcoming season under head coach Drew Dallas. Dallas, who enters his seventh season at the helm with a 60-6 record and two national championships, praised the team's effort during their first official practice.
The Blue Dragons will face Cisco College in their season opener on August 20, marking a condensed schedule that requires them to accelerate their installation and evaluation process. Dallas noted that this year's early opener will force the team to move quickly and not miss opportunities, as they have only two and a half weeks before their first game.
The Blue Dragons' 11-game schedule includes non-conference matchups against Cisco, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Ellsworth, Iowa Western, and Iowa Central. Dallas described Cisco as a physical and well-coached program from Texas that will require the team to be sound in its execution and clean in its play.
The coaching staff has undergone changes, with three new assistants joining: Tyce Hoover, who will coach tight ends; Clarence Anderson, who will coach receivers; and Malcolm Askew, who will oversee the safeties. Dallas expressed his enthusiasm for these additions and their potential to contribute to the team's success.
