BMC Names Tarun Chopra as New Head of Mainframe Business
BMC Software has named Tarun Chopra as the new senior vice president and general manager of Intelligent Z Optimization and Transformation, effective October 1, 2026. This appointment follows the retirement of John McKenny after three decades with BMC.
Chopra joins BMC from IBM, where he was most recently vice president of product management for IBM Data and AI. His experience spans over two decades across hardware and software in the AI and IBM Z ecosystem.
As part of his new role, Chopra will be responsible for shaping BMC's approach to 'agentifying the mainframe' by applying AI across operations, data, security, and application development while preserving the reliability and control that mainframe systems require.
