Body Found in Chicago River Near Amazon Facility

A man's body was pulled from the Chicago River on the city's Southwest Side in the early morning hours of August 21, 2026.

According to the police department, the CPD Marine Unit found a man around 40-50 years old in the water near West 23rd and South Halsted streets.

Crews were seen staging in a nearby Amazon facility's parking lot, located in an area bounded by the South Loop, Chinatown, and Pilsen neighborhoods.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, and his name has not been released pending autopsy results.
