Boeing 737-7 Clears FAA Certification, Ready for Commercial Service
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Boeing's 737-7 an amended type certificate, paving the way for commercial service. This marks a significant milestone in Boeing's effort to complete the MAX family after years of regulatory scrutiny.
The certification process, which began in 2018, involved over 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing, as well as extensive system safety analyses and human factors reviews. The FAA also updated Boeing's Production Certificate No. 700 (PC 700) to include the 737-7, allowing the manufacturer to begin delivering the aircraft to customers.
Boeing is now working with launch customer Southwest Airlines to prepare the first 737-7 for delivery. The company has stated that it will update the initial production aircraft to their final certified configuration before they enter airline service.
