Trump Slams ExxonMobil and Chevron for 'Making Too Much Money' from Iran War
President Donald Trump criticized ExxonMobil and Chevron for profiteering from the Iran war, saying they 'made too much money' in the second quarter. The two energy companies reported a combined $26.5 billion in profits last week, with Chevron's profits increasing by 400% compared to the same period in 2025.
ExxonMobil also saw its profits more than double over the same time frame, which Trump attributed to 'a shortage.' He said that 'when you look at one company where they made 12 times what they made the year before, they're going to give some of that back to the public, and they better cut the retail price,' referring to gas prices.
Gas prices have surged since Trump launched his war on Iran, reaching nearly $4.10 per gallon this week, according to AAA. The president's comments came as Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, fell by nearly 5% to $83 per barrel on Monday following softening rhetoric from the White House.
