Boeing 737 MAX 10 Certification Delayed Over Software Glitch

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has delayed certification of the Boeing 737 MAX 10 due to a software glitch that may pose safety risks during landing approaches.

According to FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford, the issue arises when pilots modify their pre-programmed flight plan following a missed approach, causing an automated navigation feature to fail.

The problem was discovered after a Wall Street Journal article outlined the issue on September 16, and shares of Boeing fell sharply as a result.

Bedford emphasized that pilots are trained to safely land planes without the automated navigation system, but regulators must evaluate whether the 'workload' is excessive for pilots under such scenarios.
