Boeing 737 MAX 10 Delays Leave United Airlines Stuck with Unsold Lie-Flat Seats
Boeing's certification delays for the 737 MAX 10 have put United Airlines in a bind. The airline had planned to incorporate the MAX 10 into its fleet, touting the lie-flat premium seats as a major selling point on transcontinental routes.
However, with the plane's rollout now pushed back to summer 2027, United is struggling to find a use for these specialized seats, which are incompatible with other aircraft models in their fleet. In an interview, United CEO Scott Kirby noted that they have 'a bunch of lie-flat seats that we don't know what to do with.'
This predicament highlights the challenges airlines face when adapting to changing circumstances in the aviation industry.
