The Boeing 737 MAX 7 has finally received regulatory approval from the FAA in the United States, but passengers may have to wait several more months before flying on the smallest member of the MAX family.

The certification process involved over 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing, which began after the first test aircraft flew in 2018.

Southwest Airlines, the launch customer, now expects the first deliveries near the end of 2026, with the aircraft entering passenger service in early 2027, according to Chief Financial Officer Tom Doxey.
