Boeing 737 MAX Software Flaw Exposes Pilots to Landing Risks

Boeing has identified a software problem on some 737 MAX aircraft that could leave pilots without automated flight guidance during certain landing situations. The issue is linked to a cockpit software update and can arise when pilots change the aircraft's planned route after a missed approach, causing an automated navigation feature to stop working.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was aware of the problem and would convene a Corrective Action Review Board to assess the issue. The FAA will take immediate action if it identifies a safety concern.

Boeing has notified operators about the issue, which is not limited to any specific region or airline. The company is working on a permanent fix and has reinforced existing pilot procedures for safely handling such cases.
