Boeing 737 Max Software Glitch May Delay Certification
Boeing has identified a software issue on its 737 Max jets that could increase pilot workload during landing. The glitch occurs when pilots need to abort a landing attempt, forcing the autopilot into a simpler mode of automation for pitch control.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reviewing whether this poses a flight-safety concern and may delay certification of Boeing's new 737 Max 10 model.
Boeing said it informed all 737 operators about the software issue last month, sharing information to reinforce existing pilot procedures for handling such cases. A permanent fix was originally slated for 2028 but Boeing is working to accelerate this process.
