Boeing 777X Offers Improved Range Over Predecessor
The Boeing 777X is the latest iteration of the popular widebody aircraft type, offering improved capacity, fuel efficiency, and operational range compared to its predecessor, the 777-300ER.
The 777X has drawn significant demand from operators worldwide, with a key metric being compared being the operational range. The Boeing 777-8 variant is expected to have an operational range of 8,745 NM (16,190 km), while the larger Boeing 777-9 variant is expected to have a range of 7,285 NM (13,500 km).
Interestingly, despite being larger and heavier, the 777-9 has a smaller range than the 777-8 due to its increased fuel capacity. When compared to the previous generation, the 777X outperforms in terms of range, with the Boeing 777-8 able to fly an additional 1,375 NM (2,546 km) further than the 777-300ER.
