Boeing Advances Offer to Engineers Amid Strike Threat
Boeing is working to avoid a workers' strike by advancing another offer to its engineers and technicians union, SPEEA. The company wants to maintain production ramp-up and certification progress on the 737 Max, Max 10, and 777X programs.
The latest offer includes a 10% guaranteed wage increase effective October 16, along with 6% annual wage pools for 2028-2030, and revised language surrounding work-from-home policies. However, the offer does not contain everything SPEEA asked for, but it represents a step toward improving pay and work lives.
Despite some lingering resentment over past contracts, negotiations between Boeing and SPEEA have been proceeding in good faith, with both sides noting a collaborative tone. The next few weeks of negotiations are critical, as a strike could further delay the Max 10 and 777X programs.
