Boeing and American Airlines have completed their first landing gear exchange for a 737 MAX, marking a significant milestone in Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange Program.

The successful swap took place with an American Airlines aircraft, which received a fully overhauled and certified main and nose landing gear assembly from Boeing. This validated the end-to-end process of technical overhaul, certification, and delivery of ready-to-install assemblies for the 737 MAX fleet.

This exchange program has long provided customers with an alternative to buying and warehousing expensive spare parts, reducing aircraft downtime and easing spare parts burdens for operators.

William Ampofo, senior vice president at Boeing Global Services, stated that this milestone reinforces what their customers have known for years: 'Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange capability delivers predictable, safe and cost-effective outcomes.'
