Boeing and Airbus Unveil Next-Gen Narrow-Body Jets for Late 2030s

Airbus and Boeing are working on next-generation narrow-body aircraft to replace their current 737 and A320 families by the late 2030s. These new planes, known as Airbus's NGSA (New Generation Single-Aisle) and Boeing's NSA (Narrow-Body Single-Aisle), will be designed to match or surpass the performance of the A321neo.

The NSA is expected to target the size of the 757-200, with advanced ducted turbofans and longer, thinner wings that can fold up for easier storage. Boeing's development is following the certification delay of its 777-9 aircraft to the late 2030s.

Airbus's NGSA, which was delayed until 2031, will have dimensions similar to the A321neo and incorporate findings from their Wing of Tomorrow research program. Both companies are still in the early stages of development, engaging with suppliers and refining designs.
