Boeing and USAF Progress F-47 Fighter Program, Eyeing First Flight in Two Years

The U.S. Air Force and Boeing are making progress on the F-47 sixth-generation fighter, aiming for its first flight within the next two years.

Gen. Dale White, program manager for major acquisition programs, said at a recent conference that many years of tech maturation and risk reduction have given the program a head start.

'We are absolutely on [track] to be able to hit the mark of flying within this administration,' White stated.

The Air Force has been working on its next-generation fighter while the U.S. Navy's similar platform, F/A-XX, has been stalled due to concerns about the defense industrial base supporting two advanced fighter programs.
