Boeing B737-10 Certification Delayed Amid New Software Glitch
A certification delay for Boeing's B737-10 has been announced by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) due to a newly identified software issue. The glitch, affecting GE Aerospace-developed software, can prevent pilots from accessing automated flight guidance during certain go-around scenarios.
According to FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford, certification will not proceed until the regulator is satisfied that the issue has been addressed. Boeing initially learned of the problem in November 2024 and had notified operators in August 2026, stating it did not pose a safety risk.
The manufacturer is working on both interim procedures and a permanent software update to resolve the issue. The FAA plans to convene a Corrective Action Review Board to determine whether the glitch constitutes an unsafe condition requiring corrective action.
