Boeing Celebrates Completion of 737-7 Certification with Employee Recognition

Boeing recently celebrated the completion of its multi-year effort to certify the 737-7, the smallest member of the 737 MAX family. The company brought together around 500 employees in Seattle for the occasion, which took place at the Seattle Delivery Center after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified the aircraft for commercial service in early August.

The event focused on recognizing the teams involved in the development and testing of the aircraft, rather than just the regulatory milestone. Company leaders including Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Mike Sinnett, senior vice president of Product Strategy, Product Development and Development Programs, and Kurt Kinder, Southwest Airlines vice president of Maintenance Planning and Tech Ops attended the gathering.

The certification process involved nearly 700 flight-test hours across 440 test flights, as well as approximately 350 hours of ground testing. Employees who had worked on the programme since its earlier stages reflected on the significance of reaching this milestone, with some expressing pride in their contribution to the project's success.
