Boeing Chiefs Targeted for Criminal Charges Amid New Exposé
Rory Kennedy, a documentary filmmaker and member of the famous Kennedy family, is calling for Boeing CEOs to face 'criminal charges' after her new exposé uncovered further evidence of the company's alleged recklessness. In her latest film, Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing, which follows up on her 2022 documentary Downfall: The Case Against Boeing, Kennedy reveals a pattern of Boeing ignoring employee concerns and retaliating against whistleblowers.
Kennedy's own family has been touched by tragedy, with several members dying in plane crashes over the years. Despite this, she devoted years to investigating Boeing's underbelly, driven by a sense of outrage at the company's priorities. 'It's not just for the whistleblowers but also the families who lost family members in the 737 MAX crashes,' Kennedy says.
Boeing has admitted fault in the 2018 and 2019 737 MAX crashes that resulted in 346 deaths, attributing the cause to a faulty Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS). However, Kennedy's film claims that Boeing continued to prioritize profits over people and safety even after the crashes. 'The allegations in this film have been widely reported over the past several years,' a Boeing spokesperson said in response.
Kennedy is calling for criminal charges against the CEOs who knew about the risks of the 737 MAX but allowed it to fly despite its flaws. She believes that this would send a clear message to companies prioritizing profits over people and safety.
