Boeing Delays EASA Approval for 737 MAX 7 Amid Low European Demand

Boeing has secured FAA certification for its 737 MAX 7 aircraft but will delay EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) approval due to minimal European demand. The company cited that Southwest Airlines holds nearly all orders, making US approval a priority.

The FAA granted the amended type certificate for the 737 MAX 7 on August 3, 2026, allowing Boeing to begin deliveries by early 2027. Southwest Airlines will be the launch operator of the aircraft.

Boeing chose to skip concurrent EASA validation because no European carriers currently plan to operate the variant. This approach conserves engineering and regulatory resources for now.
