Boeing Delivers Final O3b mPOWER Satellites to SES
Boeing has delivered the final three O3b mPOWER satellites to SES, completing the initial 13-satellite constellation in medium Earth orbit. The new satellites add capacity to the network and are expected to launch from Florida in September, with a planned entry into service in mid-2027. The constellation serves government organizations, civil agencies, mobile operators, airlines, and cruise lines, as well as users in remote areas.
The O3b mPOWER constellation also serves as a technical baseline for national security systems, including the U.S. Space Force's Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS)-11 and WGS-12 systems and Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS). The satellites utilize Boeing's 702X spacecraft platform, which is designed to be a dual-use system drawing on an existing commercial manufacturing line.
