Boeing Delivers Modernized Chinook Helicopters to Egyptian Air Force

Boeing has delivered the first five of 12 modernized CH-47F Block I Chinook helicopters to the Egyptian Air Force, marking a significant upgrade for Egypt's heavy-lift capabilities. The handover ceremony took place on September 8 at Egypt's El Alamein Airshow.

The new helicopters will enable Egypt to transport troops and equipment more efficiently, as well as support humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and firefighting missions. They replace the country's existing CH-47D fleet, offering greater payload and range than previous models operated by the Egyptian Air Force.

The $426 million foreign military sale for 12 CH-47F Block I Chinooks is a major step in modernizing Egypt's air force, with Boeing committing to ongoing support for the fleet. The company has invested over $3 million in community programs in Egypt over the past decade, reaching 9,800 participants through education and employability initiatives.

According to Kathleen (KJ) Jolivette, vice president and general manager of Boeing Vertical Lift Programs, 'The Chinook flies where it's needed most, into disaster zones, across deserts, to assist people at their most vulnerable.' This marks the latest development in a partnership between Boeing and Egypt that began nearly six decades ago.
