Boeing Detects Software Issue with MAX Planes

Boeing has identified a software issue in its B737 MAX planes that could result in the disengagement of the automated flight guidance system after a missed landing approach.

The issue affects certain aircraft, which may experience a reduction in automation during a landing scenario. Boeing has issued an advisory to operators to reset the system following a missed approach as a precautionary measure.

Air India Express and Akasa Air have a combined 96 B737 MAX planes in their fleets, although it is unclear how many of these may be affected by the issue.

Boeing engineers are working on a software update to permanently address the problem, which has been shared with operators. Existing pilot procedures for handling such cases remain unchanged.
