Boeing Ditches Flying Taxi Dreams Amid Industry Retrenchment
Boeing is divesting its non-core units to focus on commercial and defense businesses. The company will sell Wisk, SkyGrid, and Insitu to Archer Aviation while retaining a nearly 20% stake in Archer.
The deal also includes a technology-sharing partnership between the two companies, with Boeing gaining access to Wisk's autonomous flight technology for its current and future aircraft.
Archer will integrate the acquired units as it works towards FAA certification of its Midnight aircraft, expected next year at the earliest.
