Boeing Engineers Approve $32 Billion Pay Package, Defuse Strike Threat
Boeing engineers and technical workers have approved a new four-year contract that includes a 32% pay package, defusing a potential strike threat. The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) represents roughly 17,000 Boeing employees, including 13,000 engineers and scientists, who voted to accept the revised proposal with 67.6% support.
The contract includes an immediate 10% wage increase, followed by annual raises of 4%, as well as the potential for an additional 2% performance-based increase. This averages out to a 32% pay gain over the four-year term, which is roughly 5 percentage points above the initial offer rejected in August.
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg had warned that a strike would stall certification of the delayed 777-9 widebody and significantly hamper production capacity for the 737 family. With labor peace secured through 2030, attention now shifts to execution on the factory floor and in the certification pipeline.
