Boeing Engineers Approve New Labor Deal, Avoid Strike
Boeing engineers and technical workers have avoided a potentially disruptive strike after approving new four-year labor agreements. The deal, which covers around 17,000 employees, including approximately 13,000 engineers and scientists, was approved by the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) on Wednesday.
The revised offers from Boeing provide an immediate 10% salary increase, followed by annual increases of at least 4%, with additional performance-related adjustments potentially adding up to two percentage points in subsequent years. The average pay is expected to rise by approximately 32% over the four-year duration of the contracts.
A strike had been authorized to begin as early as October 7 if negotiations failed, but Boeing engineers and technical workers have now accepted the revised agreements. The approval was narrower among technical workers, with 53.48% voting in favor, compared to 67.62% of professional employees.
