Boeing Expands Landing Gear Exchange Program to 737 MAX Aircraft

Boeing has successfully completed its first landing gear exchange for a 737 MAX aircraft with American Airlines. This milestone marks the expansion of Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange Program to include the latest generation of single-aisle aircraft.

The program allows airlines to reserve forward-exchange slots, eliminating the need for purchasing and holding high-cost spare landing gear or conducting lengthy in-place overhauls. Boeing manages the technical overhaul, certification, and supplier coordination, providing operators with predictable and cost-effective outcomes.

According to William Ampofo, senior vice president of parts and distribution and supply chain at Boeing Global Services, 'This milestone reinforces what our customers have known for years: Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange capability delivers predictable, safe and cost-effective outcomes.'

The company is now increasing its global overhaul capacity and working with certified MRO partners to expand the geographic availability of the program. Near-term priorities include increasing the inventory of 737 MAX-capable exchange landing gear and adding forward-exchange slots closer to customer operations.
