Boeing Expands Landing Gear Exchange Program to 737 MAX Fleet
Boeing has successfully completed its first landing gear exchange for a 737 MAX aircraft. The exchange was part of Boeing's Landing Gear Exchange Program, which allows airlines to swap out old landing gear assemblies with overhauled and certified ones, reducing downtime during maintenance.
The program, previously available on other Boeing aircraft, is now extended to the 737 MAX fleet. According to William Ampofo, senior vice president of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, this milestone marks a significant expansion of the company's capabilities.
Boeing handles inventory management and supplier coordination for the exchange process, which includes technical overhaul, certification, and delivery coordination. The program aims to reduce aircraft downtime during landing gear maintenance by providing pre-certified replacement assemblies.
